Looking for a passionate and skilled paediatric occupational therpist for your child? Motions Health Kids Therapy is based in Underwood Brisbane, just up the road from Bunnings.

How can Occupational Therapy help my child?

A Paediatric Occupational Therapist helps children develop the essential skills they need to participate fully in everyday activities at home, school, or in play.

We have extensive experience in conducting both standardised assessments and unstructured play-based evaluations across all areas of Paediatric Occupational Therapy, including:

✔ Fine & Gross Motor Skills – Developing strength, coordination, and dexterity for tasks like handwriting, dressing, and playing.

✔ Sensory Processing – Helping children regulate and respond to sensory input for improved focus and comfort.

✔ Self-Care & Daily Living – Supporting independence in dressing, feeding, and hygiene routines.

✔ Emotional & Social Development – Enhancing confidence, communication, and interactions with peers.

✔ School Readiness & Learning – Improving skills needed for handwriting, attention, and classroom participation.

At Motion Health Kids Therapy, we aim to make sure therapy sessions are engaging, play-based, and tailored to the child’s individual needs, using games, visuals, and interactive techniques to support development.

Initial Appointment

At Motion Kids Therapy, the initial appointment with a occupational therapist is made up of 2 parts:

Part 1 Face-to-Face Session (60 minutes): First 60 minute face to face session at the clinic with the parent/care giver only which allows the therapist to gather all background information and gives the parent an opportunity to freely discuss any concerns with the therapist. During this time, your therapist will discuss goals for therapy to support the creation of a treatment plan tailored to your child’s individual needs.

Part 2 Non-Face-to-Face Support (30 minutes): A 30-minute non-face-to-face support session may include communicating with your child’s teacher or other professionals involved in their care, scoring, analysing, and interpreting standardised assessments, and developing therapy goals and a therapy plan to be reviewed with you in the next session. If needed, it may also involve a phone call with the parent or caregiver to clarify any additional information before the next session.

Ongoing Therapy Appointments

Your occupational therapist will set goals with your family and child, and support your child to achieve these goals by:

  • Recommending ongoing therapy based on your child’s individual needs. Frequency may vary depending on the needs of the child, but appointments are usually 45 minutes in duration with 15 minutes allocated for preparation and documentation.
  • We provide parents and caregivers with resources to actively support their child’s occupational therapy journey. When a multidisciplinary team is involved, our occupational therapists collaborate regularly with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child.
